Last updated: November 2026. This notice explains which data All of Us processes. In short: no account, no tracking, no third parties.

1. Controller

The controller is the operator named in the imprint.

2. Hosting

The website runs on a server operated by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. Hetzner processes data on our behalf (Art. 28 GDPR) under a data processing agreement.

3. IP address

Your IP address is transmitted when you load the page. We use it briefly in memory to (a) determine your country with a local database from DB-IP and (b) limit abuse. For this we compute a keyed hash whose key is regenerated every day and never stored. The IP address is not stored in the database or in log files and is not shared with anyone. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a working vote that is protected against abuse).

4. Votes

For each vote we only store the country and the chosen answer as a counter. To prevent double voting we also store a keyed hash of your random ID (see cookies). This value is different for every question, so it cannot be linked across questions, and it is deleted two days after the question closes. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR.

In “How Normal Are You?” your answers are only added to anonymous counters (how many yes and no per question, how many people reached which score). Your individual answers are not stored. So that a person is counted only once per month, we store a keyed hash of your random ID that is only valid for that month and deleted afterwards. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR.

For the Daily Hop country ranking we store, per day, only your best distance, your country and a keyed hash of your random ID that is only valid for that day. There are no names. The entries are deleted after two days. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR.

5. Cookies

Both cookies are strictly necessary for the function you request (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). There are no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.

6. Storage in your browser

Your avatar (a random string), your Orbling, your Mystery Country guesses and stats, and your Chicken Hop progress are kept only in your browser's storage (localStorage) and are not sent to us. Exception: when you vote, the avatar string is sent along and kept in memory for a short time so your avatar appears in the live crowd. It is not stored in the database and says nothing about you. You can delete both at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

7. Fonts and external content

All fonts and files are served from our own server. No third-party content is embedded.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). Because we store no data that directly identifies you, we can often only partly match a request to you. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
